Insights
While activewear and athleisure discounts increased during the onset of the pandemic in 2020, they decreased during the late summer as some normal activities returned. However, pre-holiday season, they picked back up, due to both regular seasonal discounting trends, as well as increasing global caseloads.
While sweatpants have benefited from consumer search interest during the pandemic, most other active and athleisure categories have had peaks and valleys corresponding to the severity of the respective country's outbreak. With record high cases in Europe and the US in late 2020, searches for footwear have generally trended downwards.
